2015 Chardonnay Casteel

94 THE WINE ADVOCATE
“From what I consider one of the best Chardonnay vineyards/wineries in Oregon: Bethel Heights … The 2015 Chardonnay Casteel has a seductively savory and rich nose of brioche, cashews and beeswax over a core of honeyed apricots, cedar and ginger. Medium-bodied and with a gorgeous creaminess to the texture, it fills the mouth with stone fruit and spice flavors, finishing with great length and depth.” Lisa Perrotti-Brown

2016 Chardonnay Justice Vineyard

The Chardonnay from Justice Vineyard over the years has developed a haunting sea breeze, saline quality both in the aroma and on the palate that distinguishes it from every other Chardonnay in our portfolio. The wine’s freshness, purity, and unique fingerprint are framed by bright acidity and a crystalline structure, perhaps providing a window into the marine sedimentary soils where it’s planted, soils that were once layers of sand on the floor of the ocean millions of years ago.

2017 Hope Well Chardonnay

This inaugural Chardonnay from Hope Well is an exciting landmark in the vineyard. We planted Chardonnay after much of the Pinot Noir was asserting the ‘personality’ of its home, and chose our favorite sites based on what we were learning from the Pinot. For young fruit it was very assertive and distinct. By the time it was bottled after ten months in barrel it was clear that Hope Well has a distinct signature for Chardonnay as well as Pinot noir.

2015 Pinot Noir Justice Vineyard

94 THE WINE ENTHUSIAST "Juicy dark-purple fruits hold the center of this supple, engaging wine that's still young, with chewy tannins. There's tangy bite to the acids and plenty of muscle for aging. Drink 2020 through 2030 and possibly longer. "

2016 Pinot Noir West Block

93 WINE ADVOCATE - The 2016 Pinot Noir West Block is pale to medium ruby-purple in color with warm cinnamon stick and clove notes over ripe black berries, cherries and currant aromas with a perfumed core of pepper, potpourri, underbrush and dried leaves. Medium-bodied, it fills the mouth with sweet black fruits and oodles of spicy/savory notions—sliced prosciutto, potpourri, tree bark, bitter peel—with fine-grained tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing very long and earthy.

2017 Hope Well Pinot Noir

It is now old hat to say ‘another hot, dry season,’ and it might sound like a way of getting in front of high alcohols and low acidity. Not so. The 2017 Pinot noir is fresh, nimble and reveals all the layers of Hope Well, the place, as it matures in voice and substance.  The ongoing work of building redundancy into our ecosystem is transforming what was already a special place into a canvas that paradoxically grows more effervescent and resilient with age.

2014 Pinot Noir Cellar Crawl Collection

The 2014 Cellar Crawl Collection includes 18 distinct single-vineyard Pinot Noir bottlings produced by six winemakers:  Ben Casteel of Bethel Heights, Ken Wright of Ken Wright Cellars, Mike Etzel of Beaux Frères, Steve Doerner of Cristom Vineyards, Lynn Penner-Ash of Penner-Ash Wine Cellars, and Laurent Montalieu of Soléna Estate.  Working in two groups, these winemakers took on identical allotments of fruit from three of each other’s vineyard sources, in order to explore the relative impact of vineyard site and winemaking process on the expression of wine.  Technical information about the six vineyard sites and the six winemaking protocols is included with the Collection.

2017 Pinot Blanc

Departing slightly from past tradition in the vinification of our Estate Pinot blanc, we aged this wine for 10 months in a large 30 hectoliter (792 gallons) oak oval, following a cool fermentation in stainless steel, maintaining the freshness and vibrancy of the vintage while also adding depth and breadth due to the extended lees contact without malolactic fermentation.
