2014 Chardonnay Casteel 1.5L

Our family name on this reserve Chardonnay is our license to choose our personal favorite lots from the vintage and give them the luxury of a long slow fermentation in barrique, yielding a wine of purity and freshness with outstanding structure and concentration. In 2014 the wine came from a single lot, our Bethel Heights Vineyard Dijon selection 76, planted 1994. It has served as the lone constant for this wine since 2011, providing outstanding purity and freshness. 92 Points Wine Advocate, Read more about the 2014 Casteel Chardonnay.

2014 Chardonnay Estate 1.5L

Chardonnay presents the perfect opportunity to experience terroir through a lens other than Pinot noir. Six different blocks of Chardonnay planted between 1977 and 2001 in various sites around our Estate vineyards, yield a fascinating diversity of character and style. And yet, taken together, they are unmistakably Bethel Heights.92 Points Wine Enthusiast, Read more about the 2014 Estate Chardonnay.

2014 Pinot Noir Flat Block 1.5L

Historically the Flat Block is the most graceful and approachable of our single block wines in its youth, and 2014 proves to be no different. The deep, red-fruited core of this wine is undeniable, but the texture and movement on the palate are the real stars. 93 Points Wine Spectator and 92 Points Wine Advocate, Read more about the 2014 Flat Block.

2014 Pinot Noir Southeast Block 1.5L

Aromas of blueberry, blackberry, anise, spicy arugula, and wood smoke. The palate shows fleshy blackberry flavors mingling with black pepper, dried cedar, and black currant, all against a lively backdrop of acidity and fine grain tannin. As always, the Southeast Block will reward the patient over the next 10-12 years. 90 Points Wine Advocate, Read more about the 2014 Southeast Block.

2014 Pinot Noir West Block 1.5L

Aromas of black cherry, black currant, chalk dust, and a hint of cooking chocolate. The palate is black cherries and rhubarb, all tucked into the West Block’s trademark acidity and firm, balancing tannins. While elegance is in this wine’s future, it will take some time to get there and the patient will be rewarded by laying this down for 7-10 years. 93 Points Wine Advocate, Read more about the 2014 West Block.

2015 Pinot Noir Casteel 1.5L

Aromas of black cherry, pine resin, and black currants with hints of cooking chocolate and cinnamon lingering in the background. Flavors of black berries and dark chocolate play over a sinewy, taut structure of mineral laden acidity and fine-grained tannins. In a vintage that threatened to be over-wrought and soft, we were very pleased that the core of our Estate maintained the energy and focus we have come to expect, to support and carry the fruit long into the future. 94 Points Vinous, Read more about the 2015 Casteel Pinot Noir.

2015 Pinot Noir Justice Vineyard 1.5L

Aromas of blackberry, black currant and anise with hints of oak spice and almond butter. The wine is full and expressive on the palate, featuring raspberry and blackberry flavors that quickly give way to the natural acidity and a dense core of tannin. The 2015 Justice is an athletic, muscular wine that will require some cellaring to reach its full potential. Since 2004 a few barrels have been selected each year for a Justice Vineyard designated Pinot noir. The 2015 selection is a blend of three different blocks.94 Points Wine Enthusiast and 92 Points Wine Advocate, Read more about the 2015 Justice Pinot Noir.

2015 Pinot Noir Southeast Block 1.5L

Aromas of nectarine, rhubarb, sassafras, and sandalwood dominate, with hints of Rainier cherry and orange blossom in the background. The palate is laden with stone fruit and all the flavors of summer, making this perhaps the most atypical Southeast Block we can remember. The acidity is refreshing, giving urgency to tightly coiled tannins that promise a long, bright future. 93 Points The Wine Advocate and 94 Points Wine Enthusiast, Read more about the 2015 Southeast Block Pinot Noir.

2015 Pinot Noir The Shallows 1.5L

What are designated vineyard blocks but arbitrary lines in the sand, drawn for the convenience of tractors? When the lines begin to blur, you get layers of geologic and organic evolution, patterns of wind and sun, all running crosswise and sideways to your neat grid of lines and squares.  The Shallows is one of the three Pinot Noirs in the Beyond the Block Series of wines.  This wine represents the rocky, dense shallow soil where the Flat Block and East Block meet.

2015 Pinot Noir West Block 1.5L

Aromas of black berry and black currant play over background notes of black tea, jasmine, and wet stone. The palate is full of boysenberry and pomegranate tamed by racy, mouthwatering acidity and full, palate-coating tannins. Usually one of shyest members of the Bethel Heights portfolio, the West Block’s whisper turned into a full-throated roar in the heat of 2015. 93 Points The Wine Advocate, Read more about the 2015 West Block Pinot Noir.

2016 Chardonnay Estate 1.5L

The Estate Chardonnay represents our entire planted acreage, thus provides the most complete expression of Chardonnay from our estate in each vintage.  We make our picking decisions with tension and vibrancy favored over opulence and richness, as we believe this gives us the best expression of our sense of place.   This wine will benefit from cellaring for at least three years and/or decanting a few hours ahead of time. 94 Points jamessuckling.com and 91 Points The Wine Advocate. 2016 Chardonnay Justice Vineyard 1.5L

The Chardonnay from Justice Vineyard over the years has developed a haunting sea breeze, saline quality both in the aroma and on the palate that distinguishes it from every other Chardonnay in our portfolio. The wine’s freshness, purity, and unique fingerprint are framed by bright acidity and a crystalline structure, perhaps providing a window into the marine sedimentary soils where it’s planted, soils that were once layers of sand on the floor of the ocean millions of years ago. 2016 Pinot Noir West Block 1.5L

As is typical of the West Block, this wine is defined by purity and levity as opposed to richness and power. Elegant and focused, this wine will benefit from 5-7 years in the bottle for those who desire freshness in their wines and considerably longer for those looking for something more evolved. 93 Points The Wine Advocate, Read more about the 2016 West Block Pinot Noir.

2017 Pinot Blanc 1.5L

Departing slightly from past tradition in the vinification of our Estate Pinot blanc, we aged this wine for 10 months in a large 30 hectoliter (792 gallons) oak oval, following a cool fermentation in stainless steel, maintaining the freshness and vibrancy of the vintage while also adding depth and breadth due to the extended lees contact without malolactic fermentation. 2019 Pinot Noir Rose 1.5L

This Rosé comes from our oldest Pinot noir planting at Bethel Heights, own-rooted Wädenswil vines planted in 1977.   Picked early, whole cluster pressed to avoid extraction of tannin, fermented cool in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation, and voilà – a bright, refreshing wine that captures the essence of summer, with all the aromatic complexity of Pinot noir but with the lighter body of an elegant aromatic white wine.
